I\u2019ve met many Christians who want to see more of God in their lives. What they often don\u2019t realize is that their experience of His power and presence is tied to their imagination. Now, when I say \u201cimagination,\u201d most Christians think I\u2019m talking about make-believe or mind over matter. I\u2019m not talking about either one.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Did you know that Scripture has a lot to say about the imagination?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

When it\u2019s used in a positive sense, Scripture calls it hope!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The part of you that hopes is a result of the part of you that imagines. How? Because when you hope, you\u2019re creating a mental picture of what you\u2019d like to see happen. There are many scriptures on this topic. Let\u2019s start with a verse in Hebrews:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tNow faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHebrews 11:1<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

You could say it this way: faith is the substance of your positive imagination, the evidence of things not seen. According to this verse, faith brings into reality the things that you positively imagine. Your imagination is like your spiritual womb. It will conceive what God\u2019s Word says, and then faith brings to birth the things that you\u2019ve conceived.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

I don\u2019t know if that helps you, but it blesses me! This is so important, because there are a lot of people who look at hope as a non-issue. As a matter of fact, many faith people have downplayed the role of hope. It says this in 1 Corinthians 13:13:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tAnd now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

People in the faith crowd, of course, will emphasize faith. And they understand the importance of love and how it\u2019s the greatest of all. But did you know that hope should be right up there as one of the greatest forces, with faith and love?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When I\u2019ve heard people use the word hope when talking about receiving from God, I\u2019ve heard others criticize them, saying, \u201cYou don\u2019t need to hope; you need to believe!\u201d They don\u2019t realize that without hope\u2014without a positive imagination\u2014a person can\u2019t believe!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t

If there\u2019s nothing hoped for, faith doesn\u2019t have anything to give substance to.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

It\u2019s not just believe and receive. You have to conceive the Word, then you believe what it says, and then you receive what it promises. You might ask, \u201cHow do you conceive the Word of God?\u201d Proverbs 23:7 says, \u201cFor as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

What you think or meditate on is how you conceive things, whether good or bad. If you meditate on your circumstances, that\u2019s what you\u2019ll conceive. It\u2019ll be a self-fulfilling prophecy! But if you meditate on what God\u2019s Word has to say, you\u2019ll conceive what God\u2019s Word says. It\u2019ll change everything about you\u2014how you see yourself, your circumstances, everything. That\u2019s powerful! I hope you are getting this.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tBlessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Notice it says that whatever you do shall prosper. That\u2019s a big promise! But it\u2019s true. This is how it works: Your heart is like soil that\u2019ll grow whatever thoughts are sown into it (Mark 4:26\u201328). What goes into your heart is what you imagine happening.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Your imagination will go in the direction of your dominant thoughts. That\u2019s why you must guard your heart (Prov. 4:23).<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Did you know that if you want to get from Texas to New York but don\u2019t have any idea of how to get there, then any old road will do. You could just take any road and head in any direction. But if you have a specific destination\u2014New York City\u2013and you\u2019re trying to get there from Dallas, you have to picture where New York City is and know the direction you\u2019re going. Whether you look at a map or use a GPS, you have to move in a certain direction. You have to have the end goal in sight. And if you\u2019re traveling a long distance and it\u2019s going to take you more than one day to get to a certain place, you know what? You have to have some idea that you\u2019re going to spend the night somewhere along the way. You have to think about these things. Did you know all of that is your imagination?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Some of the things I\u2019m saying are hard to put into words because I\u2019m talking about things you can\u2019t see. But this is the way I live! My ministry and my relationship with God would not be where they are today without putting these things into practice. There are a lot of goals that I\u2019ve set that I believe are from the Lord. The only way that I know I\u2019ll get there is if I imagine the things God has put on my heart and meditate on them. When I do, they\u2019ll paint a picture on the inside of me that I\u2019ll be able to see manifest through faith. They are going to come to pass. Sometimes it may not look like it, but you watch. Whether it\u2019s finances or healing or whatever, I am going to have all that I need to accomplish everything that God has told me to accomplish.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
