How do you manifest the presence of God?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

You know, it seems like there\u2019s so much confusion around this topic, and I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve ever noticed that there are certain ministers, people, or believers that just seem to manifest the presence of God more powerfully than others. They\u2019ll be ministering and teaching, and the presence of God is so tangible, and the anointing feels so strong.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

What is the difference between someone like that and someone who is not manifesting the presence of God?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

That\u2019s what we\u2019re going to be investigating today. Let\u2019s start by taking a look at two different songs, \u201cHoly Spirit\u201d and \u201cOpen Up the Heavens.\u201d The lyrics from the chorus of \u201cHoly Spirit\u201d begin like this: \u201cHoly Spirit, You are welcome here. Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Now, again, I love this song, and I actually sing it with modified lyrics. But the thing is, when we say \u201cCome,\u201d we\u2019re actually saying to the Lord, \u201cI want You to come because I\u2019m not sure You\u2019re here. So, would You come?\u201d And isn\u2019t it interesting that almost always when we\u2019re singing these kinds of songs, we\u2019re saying this about the Holy Spirit. Rarely do we ever say this about Jesus or the Father.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

So, in our minds, we begin to think that the Holy Spirit is something different than the presence of God.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Yet the reality is, the presence of God and the Holy Spirit who is within us are the very same thing.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Now, let\u2019s look at the lyrics for \u201cOpen Up the Heavens.\u201d They go like this: \u201cOpen up the heavens. We want to see you. . . . We\u2019re looking to the sky. Descending like a cloud, You\u2019re standing with us now.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Well, what exactly does \u201cOpen up the heavens\u201d mean? I have to admit, when I first heard this phrase, I thought to myself, Okay, who closed the heavens?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

So, where does that phrase even come from?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

It comes from Isaiah 64:1, which says:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tOh, that you would rend [or tear open] the heavens! That You would come down.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNKJV [Brackets Added]<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

This Isaiah passage is where we get this Old Covenant idea of opening up the heavens and coming down. Isaiah was saying, \u201cLord, I just wish you would open up the heavens and come down.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Well, Jesus already did that! <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

God\u2019s already given us what we need\u2014to not only be born again of the Spirit of God but to literally be the place of His presence, to be so filled with the presence of God that out of our innermost being flows rivers of living water. Not just a \u201criver\u201d of life, but “rivers” of life.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We\u2019re not waiting for the presence of God or the manifestation of the presence of God to be given. First Corinthians 12:7 tells us it has already been given. And it has been given to each one of us, as believers, to not only bless us but to bless those we\u2019re going to be ministering to as well.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Since we\u2019ve already been given the Holy Spirit as born-again believers (1 Cor. 6:19 and Gal. 4:6), we don\u2019t have to ask God to show up.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

God is asking us <\/span>to show up<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

And when we show up, we show up with all that God is and all that He has. But it\u2019s up to us to partner with that finished work, what\u2019s been given to us in Christ.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

God has so much more for us. He wants to help, equip, and encourage us in our generation right now so we can be a crucial part of this third great awakening.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Let\u2019s be worshipers<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Let\u2019s be the ones who realize the value of the Word of God in every area of our lives, including when we gather together to worship in a public setting or even when we\u2019re worshiping privately in our prayer closet with the Lord. What\u2019s in us needs to come out from us.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
