Nine Times Out of Ten, This Is Why You\u2019re Waiting<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve met thousands of people who believe God can heal, deliver, and provide\u2014but they\u2019re still waiting and praying,\u00a0and nothing\u2019s happening. I guarantee you that nine times out of ten, it\u2019s because they don\u2019t know about the authority God has given them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of the most important and foundational things I could ever teach you. Most Christians today are asking God to do things He told\u00a0them<\/i>\u00a0to do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In James 4:7, it says,\u00a0\u201c<\/i>Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.<\/i>\u201d<\/i>\u00a0That\u2019s not a suggestion. That\u2019s a command. And notice it says\u00a0the devil\u00a0will flee from\u00a0you<\/i>\u2014not from God. God and the devil already met\u2014Jesus beat him hands down. The problem is, most Christians don\u2019t act like it. They\u2019re still begging God to do what He\u2019s already equipped\u00a0them<\/i>\u00a0to do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Enemy Isn\u2019t Waiting\u2014Why Are You?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You may not want to think about it,\u00a0but we are in a spiritual war. And if you don\u2019t\u00a0acknowledge\u00a0that fact, you\u2019re destined to lose. We have an enemy who\u2019s out to destroy us, and we have to learn to take our authority.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour<\/i><\/b>.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1 Peter 5:8\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Satan is a defeated foe, so the only weapon he has left is deception.\u00a0He comes against us with unbelief, doubt, and lies. And if you yield to any of those things,\u00a0you\u2019re<\/i>\u00a0the one shutting off the power of God in your life. That\u2019s a strong statement, but look what it says in Ephesians 3:20:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s Not God Who\u2019s Holding You Back . . .<\/b>\u00a0It\u2019s You<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most people quote the first half of\u00a0Ephesians 3:20\u00a0and stop. But it doesn\u2019t end there. What this verse is saying is that God\u2019s power flows in our lives\u00a0according to the power that works in us<\/i><\/b>\u2014not just according to His ability, but according to what\u2019s operating in us. That means if you don\u2019t have love, faith, or a revelation of your authority working on the inside, then it\u2019s wrong to just say, \u201cWell, God can do anything.\u201d No, He\u2019s tied what He\u2019ll do in your life to what\u00a0you<\/i>\u00a0believe and the authority\u00a0you<\/i>\u00a0take.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A lot of people don\u2019t like that because it puts responsibility on\u00a0them\u2014and most people would rather say, \u201cWell, God is sovereign and He\u2019s just allowing this.\u201d But that\u2019s not what the Word says. God\u2019s not causing the mess. We have an enemy who\u2019s going around seeking whom he may devour, and we\u2019re the ones God placed here to stop him. The sad truth\u00a0is,\u00a0most believers aren\u2019t using their authority.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Authority Changes Everything<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember reading about John G. Lake, a powerful healing minister. He saw so many people healed in Spokane, Washington, they actually shut down one of the hospitals. But before that, his life was marked by loss. Several family members died young, and at one point, his sister was near death, barely breathing. In desperation, he cried out to God. And the Lord basically told him, I\u2019ve given you authority\u2014you need to stand up and\u00a0<\/i>use<\/i>\u00a0it.<\/i>\u00a0When he stood in faith and rebuked that sickness, his sister recovered. That revelation changed everything. He realized they had been praying and asking God to move, but they weren\u2019t using the authority He\u2019d already given them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not our power\u2014it\u2019s God\u2019s. But that power flows through us. And if we\u2019re not using our authority, it\u2019s not on God. It\u2019s on us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Authority\u00a0<\/b>You\u2019re Not Using<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God created physical laws from the very beginning. Take electricity, for instance\u2014we use it every day to heat and cool buildings, run lights,\u00a0and\u00a0do\u00a0all kinds of things. But did you know that Adam and Eve could have used electricity if they had understood those laws? It\u2019s not that God just created electricity a hundred years ago\u2014it\u2019s that we\u2019re just now discovering the\u00a0laws.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, in the same way, there are spiritual laws that have been in place from the beginning. And one of those is the authority God gave us over the devil. If Satan is running wild in your life or in your family, it\u2019s not because God\u2019s allowing it\u2014it\u2019s because you aren\u2019t using the authority He gave you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, I\u2019m not saying that to condemn anyone. It\u2019s no different than people a thousand years ago not using\u00a0electricity\u2014they just didn\u2019t know it was there.\u00a0Likewise, there are a lot of sincere believers who love the Lord and are on their way to heaven, but they\u2019re\u00a0still begging Him to do what He told them to do. We\u2019ve got to learn what He\u2019s given us and\u00a0use\u00a0our\u00a0authority.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What Has God Authorized You to Do?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0Matthew 10:1,<\/i>\u00a0it says Jesus gave His disciples\u00a0power<\/i>\u00a0over unclean spirits and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease.\u00a0But if you also read\u00a0Luke 9:1,\u00a0you\u2019ll see He gave them\u00a0power and authority<\/i>. Now, power\u2014dunamis<\/i>\u2014means miracle-working ability, but authority is the right to use that\u00a0ability. It\u2019s like a police officer who holds up\u00a0their\u00a0hand to stop a semi-truck.\u00a0They\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have the strength to stop it, but\u00a0they have\u00a0the authority behind\u00a0them, and that\u2019s enough. That\u2019s what God gave us. We don\u2019t have the power to heal or deliver people on our own\u2014but God has the power, and He gave\u00a0us<\/i>\u00a0the authority to use it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus didn\u2019t say, \u201cGo,\u00a0ask Me to heal the sick.\u201d No, He said,\u00a0You<\/i>\u00a0heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead (see\u00a0Matt. 10:7\u20138). Just like\u00a0with\u00a0preaching the Gospel,\u00a0God\u2019s not going to do it for us. He doesn\u2019t send angels to preach. Even Cornelius, who was a godly man, had to send for Peter to hear the\u00a0Gospel (Acts 10).\u00a0Why? Because God gave people, not angels, the authority to preach. And it\u2019s the same with healing. He\u2019s not going to sovereignly intervene while we sit back passively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

People ask why we don\u2019t see more miracles. The truth is\u2014miracles still happen. I\u2019ve seen people get out of wheelchairs and be raised from the dead. But it\u2019s not automatic. If we don\u2019t take the authority He\u2019s given us, it doesn\u2019t get done.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And I\u2019ll just say this plainly: in my experience, this is the number-one thing that keeps believers from receiving what they\u2019re asking for. They come to God begging, saying, \u201cLord, I have nothing. I am nothing. Please stretch forth Your hand,\u201d not realizing\u00a0that\u00a0God already gave\u00a0them<\/i>\u00a0authority to speak and command what He\u2019s provided.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The One Step Most Christians Never Take<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That kind of passivity in the\u00a0body of Christ is\u00a0hindering the ministry the Holy Spirit\u00a0wants to do in\u00a0people.
