True Salvation: It\u2019s Not About Being Good Enough<\/h3>\n

There\u2019s a lot of misunderstanding today about true salvation and\u00a0especially\u00a0the baptism of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0Before we can talk about the power of the Holy Spirit,\u00a0it\u2019s important\u00a0to understand what true salvation really is\u2014because everything starts there<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus taught in Matthew 13:19 that when someone hears the Word of God and\u00a0doesn\u2019t understand it<\/i><\/b>, the enemy comes immediately and steals it away.\u00a0So, understanding is the key. Without it, the truth never takes root in our hearts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s exactly where a lot of people get tripped up\u2014misunderstanding what salvation really\u00a0is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A lot of people believe that being a \u201cgood person\u201d is enough. They think,\u00a0Well, I don\u2019t steal, I don\u2019t lie much, I help people<\/i>\u00a0. . .\u00a0<\/i>surely God will accept me.<\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Others believe that if their good outweighs their bad, God will let them into heaven. But you can\u2019t save someone who doesn\u2019t believe they need saving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Th<\/b>e<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>logic that good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell<\/b>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/b>not what the Bible teaches.<\/b>\u00a0The Bible teaches that only people who’ve accepted forgiveness go to heaven,\u00a0and people who didn\u2019t accept forgiveness go to hell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Comparing Yourself to Others\u00a0<\/b>Won\u2019t Save You<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Jesus told a story in Luke 18 about two men who went into the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee\u2014a religious leader\u2014and the other was a tax collector, a man despised by society. The Pharisee looked at that tax collector and said,\u00a0\u201cGod, I thank You that I\u2019m not like other men.\u201d\u00a0He went on\u00a0to\u00a0list all the good things he\u2019d done. But the tax collector\u00a0wouldn\u2019t even lift his eyes to heaven. He beat his chest and said,\u00a0\u201cGod, be merciful to me a sinner\u201d<\/i>\u00a0<\/i>(Luke\u00a018:13).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And Jesus said that the tax collector, not the Pharisee, went home justified before God.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why? Because salvation isn\u2019t about comparing yourself to someone else. It\u2019s not about measuring up.\u00a0The Word says in\u00a0Romans 3:23<\/b>,\u00a0\u201cFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0That means all of us. Every single one.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You see, one of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking that God grades on a curve\u2014that as long as you\u2019re \u201cbetter than most,\u201d you\u2019re okay. But God\u2019s standard isn\u2019t your neighbor, your spouse, or even your pastor. God\u2019s standard is perfection\u2014pure\u00a0holiness\u2014and none of us meet that on our own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Romans 3:10 says,\u00a0\u201cThere is none righteous, no, not one.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0On our own, we\u2019re\u00a0totally\u00a0lost.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

U<\/b>ntil\u00a0<\/b>you<\/b>\u00a0understand that,\u00a0<\/b>you<\/b>\u00a0can\u2019t really be saved.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, I know that can sound harsh, but it\u2019s actually the best news in the world\u2014because when you realize you can\u2019t save yourself, you finally stop trying to. You finally turn to the only One who can.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Ground Is Level at the Foot of the Cross<\/h3>\n

I\u2019ve noticed<\/b>\u00a0two kinds of people who miss salvation.<\/b>\u00a0One says, \u201cI\u2019ve done too much wrong; God could never forgive me.\u201d The other says, \u201cI\u2019m good enough already.\u201d But both are wrong. Whether you\u2019ve broken every commandment or just one, it\u2019s the same in God\u2019s eyes. James 2:10 says that if you keep the whole\u00a0Law but offend in one point, you\u2019re guilty of all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s a sobering thought, but it also means this: the ground is level at the foot of the cross. Nobody stands higher or lower there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s good news\u00a0because no matter what you\u2019ve done\u2014no matter how far you\u2019ve fallen or how many times you\u2019ve failed\u2014Jesus already paid the price. The only thing you bring to the table is your sin and your need for a Savior.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus didn\u2019t come to be an accessory to your life. He came to\u00a0be<\/b>\u00a0your life.\u00a0You could say it this way:\u00a0Jesus plus anything equals nothing. But Jesus plus nothing equals everything.<\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you put\u00a0all<\/i><\/b>\u00a0your faith in Him\u2014not in yourself, not in your good works, not in your church attendance\u2014that\u2019s when true salvation happens. That\u2019s the simple\u00a0Gospel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.<\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Freely Justified\u00a0by God\u2019s Grace<\/b><\/h3>\n

Maybe as you\u2019re reading this, you\u2019re\u00a0realizing\u00a0you\u2019ve been trusting in your own goodness more than in what Jesus did for you. Or maybe you\u2019ve felt like you were too far gone for God to want you.\u00a0I tell you,\u00a0both\u00a0of those\u00a0are\u00a0lies\u00a0from the enemy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God\u2019s Word says in\u00a0Romans 3:24<\/b>\u00a0that we are\u00a0\u201cjustified freely by\u00a0<\/i>h<\/i>is grace.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0Freely. That means you\u00a0can\u2019t earn it. You just receive it.\u00a0God\u2019s grace isn\u2019t a reward for good behavior\u2014it\u2019s a gift for those humble enough to admit they need it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And when you do that\u2014when you stop comparing, stop striving, stop trying to fix yourself\u2014that\u2019s when His Spirit moves in and makes you\u00a0new\u00a0from the inside out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You know, I\u2019ve seen people from every background\u2014drug addicts, business leaders, teenagers, retirees\u2014all come to that same moment of surrender, and it changes everything. Tears turn to peace, fear turns to joy, and shame disappears. It\u2019s not about religion. It\u2019s about relationship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom.\u00a03:23), but all can be justified freely by His grace.\u00a0That includes you.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Salvation Is Just the Beginning \u2014 Now Comes the Power\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Once you\u2019ve truly been born again\u2014not just acknowledging God exists, but entering into a real relationship with Him\u2014there\u2019s another step that the Bible calls every believer to\u00a0take: receiving the\u00a0baptism of the Holy Spirit<\/b>. This is a separate experience from salvation,\u00a0though it doesn\u2019t have to\u00a0happen\u00a0long after (Acts 1:4\u20135).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus made this clear to His disciples just before He ascended:\u00a0\u201cWait for the promise of the Father<\/i>. . . .\u00a0<\/i>F<\/i>or John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence\u201d<\/i>\u00a0(Acts 1:4\u20135).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even after seeing His miracles, walking with Him, and believing in His resurrection, they were told not to go out and minister until they\u00a0had\u00a0received this power. Why? Because God did\u00a0not want\u00a0them\u00a0operating in\u00a0their\u00a0own strength, wisdom, or ability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why their impact was so powerful: they waited to receive power from on high (Acts 4:31),\u00a0which was\u00a0the baptism of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, many who represent the Lord haven\u2019t received that baptism. They\u00a0get up and\u00a0speak words. Some of those words may be true,\u00a0but if they\u2019re not anointed by the Holy Spirit, they won\u2019t carry the same power or impact as words inspired and empowered by Him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first-century church didn\u2019t just speak words\u2014they\u00a0demonstrated<\/i>\u00a0them. Acts 4:29\u201330 says,\u00a0\u201c<\/i>Grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word<\/i>;<\/i>\u00a0. . .<\/i>\u00a0that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God comes alive in a new way (John 14:26\u00a0and\u00a016:13). This is how the early church went from\u00a0being\u00a0fearful disciples to bold witnesses who healed the sick, cast out demons, and proclaimed the\u00a0Gospel with miraculous power (Acts 4:29\u201331). It is the difference between superficial faith and supernatural living.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Why Being\u00a0Born Again Is Just the Beginning\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

In my own life, I\u00a0was born again at age eight, but it wasn\u2019t until I was eighteen, when I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that my faith became active and visible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When that happened, everything changed. It was like an explosion inside me. The Word of God came alive, and the Spirit began teaching and guiding me into all truth (John 14:26\u00a0and\u00a016:13). He brings Scripture to remembrance, quickens it, and empowers our lives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I was once extremely shy, barely able to say \u201cgood morning\u201d in high school. Now, by God\u2019s power, I speak boldly, share His Word, and see lives transformed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not optional for a powerful Christian life.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve been born again and know with certainty that you would go to be with the Lord if you were to die today, yet haven\u2019t received this baptism, know that there is a greater dimension of God\u2019s power available to you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0baptism is available to anyone willing to receive it (Acts 2:39). Salvation opens the door, but the Spirit empowers the life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most Christians know that there\u2019s something more, and\u00a0I\u2019m telling you that\u00a0this\u00a0\u201cmore\u201d is\u00a0the baptism of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
